You have got the Caribbean side: really spectacular, never seen a similar place: especially enjoyable after the trek in the Sierra. Do not miss it!!!

PROGRAM
Day 1
- Arrive in Bogotà and transfer to domestic airport; take-off for Cartagena, take place at hotel.
Day 2 - Visit the old city surrounded by walls, rest of the day is free…most probably on the beach.
Day 3 - Transfer to Santa Marta by deluxe bus (4hours), take place in a private family lodge. In the afternoon we’ll visit the fishing village of Taganga, located 20 minutes driving, fresh fish always available, lunch on the beach. Go back to S.Marta by boat. Overnight.
Day 4-5-6-7-8 - Today we start the trek in the jungle and right after breakfast we’ll drive about 4 hours to La Tagua, a small village where the trails begins. For these 5 days we won’t see any vehicle anymore and we’ll always hike in the jungle (tropical climate), overnight in different villages hidden along our itinerary. Sometime we’ll be guest by Indians and sometime by locals descendant from Spanish settlers.
The Lost City was the main settlement of the Tayrona indians and was recently discovered by gold-seeker in 1976. The archaeologist named the site buritaca 2000. The long way up stairs and the base of the huts are still intact and totally surrounded by the jungle at more than 3000m of altitude. The place is under surveillance 24 hour a day by a few rangers. During our hike we’ll have the opportunity to admire flora and fauna, take a bath in small pool created by several creeks descending along the trail. We’ll sleep in hammocks or benches covered with mosquitoes nets but I do recommend you a good repellent anyway. We’ll be guided by expert people that I know them since the ‘90ties; they know the area very well and they are quite familiar with Indians and local people. Also, they take good care of the meal feeding us 3 times a day. Our itinerary won’t be the standard one but the one done the first time by the author in 1990. It was soon after closed because the narcos took over this area and only recently reopened thanks to an efficient policy set by the Colombian government who pulled-off the guerrillas not only in this area but in many other parts of the country.
Day 9 - Today we are back in S.ta Marta for an infinite bath and a lot of fresh fish. Overnight at the same lodge.
Day 10-11-12 - S.ta Marta - Tayrona Nat. Park
We’ll move for a 3 days excursion to a paradise corner in Tayrona Nat.Park where the Caribbean sea offer the best of itself. In this site of the park in fact you are allowed to enter by sea and foot only. Also the food and even the ice is taken here by mule. Absolutely no vehicle allowed. We’ll really tight to nature. Spartan accommodation are available and probably a comfortable tents the best choice. Here pollution is at zero.
Day 13 - We go back to S.ta Marta and transfer to Cartagena. Overnight in hotel.
Day 14 - Flight Cartagena-Bogotà; a visit to the Museum of Gold is a must. Overnight in hotel
Day 15 - Flight back to your country.

Remember:

Colombia is one of the most spectacular countries existing in our planet but unfortunately since many years has got a bad reputation due of drug trafficking and guerrilla groups. Starting a few year ago, fortunately, the government set up a severe policy clearing off that bad situation.
