What is World Trekking?
It’s the juice of several travelling experiences focused by the author during so many years of travelling around our nice planet. A few years ago Lupo had the idea to become an independent tour-leader for those people who’d like to take a tour-trek off the standard track.

Dino de Toffol “Lupo” (Wolf)
Born and grew up in the Dolomites area, north-east of Italy; he soon realized that the place was too tight for him and took- off quite young doing different jobs and living in different countries. He published several articles in magazines such as Airone, Atlante, Jonathan, Silva, Geo etc. He held conferences in Italy and other countries, and exhibitions of his photographs have taken place in the following venues: Andean Sensations (La Spezia/ Gall. Vallardi; Carrara; Viareggio etc.), Magic of the Andes (La Spezia/centro Allende), People of Gods (La Spezia / sala Dante; Montecatini etc.). In 1991, in cooperation with the anthropologist David Bellatalla and the Ethnographic Department of Genova University (Prof. Vittorio Maconi), he made an ethnographic video-documentary about the Indios of the Sierra Nevada of S.ta Marta, Colombia: the docu. was shown on different Italian networks such as Jonathan/ Canale 5 and Geo/ Rai 3.

In 1992 he published a trekking guide book, "Trekking through the Cordillera", published by Calderini / Bologna. In 1992 he was able to follow the Marco Polo’s steps travelling for 15 months along the famous Silk Road touching the main 15 countries of the north part of it. He did it as a back-packer travelling only by public transportation. It was a unic and unrepeatable experience from which he learned a lot. Since 1994 he has pursued steady anthropological research in Central Asia, especially in Mongolia, in cooperation with D. Bellatalla and the Anthropologic Department of the University of Florence (Prof. Paolo Chiozzi), the Ethnographic Department of the University of Ulaan Baatar, Mongolia (Prof. Batnasan), the Academy of Science G. Cappellini (Prof. Augusto Ambrosi) and the Formentini Museum (Doc. Marzia Ratti) of La Spezia. His ongoing research - 16 months as of today - is mainly focused on the magic-religious world of the Buriat people of Mongolia, with particular attention to shamanism, and the Buriat’s nomadic lifestyle. In 1996 he published the book "Shamanism and Spirituality among the Buriat of Mongolia", sponsored by the Cultural Association of the municipality of La Spezia.

In 1998 he made an ethnographic documentary about the Reindeer Herders of Mongolia: "Taigana, the last Reindeer Herders of Mongolia" in cooperation with the O.N.G. Crocevia of Rome and the Mongolian Cultural Association Center (Soyombo) of Milan. The documentary was shown on Italian Networks such as Rai1, Rai3, Teleliguria-sud; and sold to several Universities in the United State.
