Characteristic of the tour:
For those people who really want something different jungle and Andes, the trek at Mt. Roraima is the perfect choice: it seems to be landed on a different planet where nature and a mystic atmosphere create an adrenalinical mix that it doesn’t happen very often. Salto Angel is the highest waterfall in the world, doesn’t need any comment and reached by boat on Rio Churun is the perfect combination.
PROGRAM
Day 1 - Arrive in Caracas and transfer to a domestic flight to Ciudad Bolivar, take place at Posada don Carlos, overnight.
Day 2 - This morning after breakfast at the Posada we’ll take a jeep and drive almost 3 hours to La Paragua where we’ll board a plane for a 20 minutes flight to Canaima; the scenery here is unbelievable and after a short break we’ll jump on a boat and sailing on the Rio Churun we’ll reach the village of Canon Honda; dinner and overnight in hammock.
Day 3 - From here we’ll go ahead starting in the morning and will reach within 3 hours a bungalow site called Canon del Diablo where we’ll relax having a good lunch. Salto Angel is just in front of us and we’ll walk toward it for a while to get the best shot. Later on we’ll go back and will overnight in hammock at Isla del Raton.
Day 4 - Today we’ll be in Canaima again where we’ll overnight in a lodge.
Day 5 - Flight Canaima – Santa Elena de Uairen, take place in hotel.
Day 6 - Just after breakfast we’ll board a 4wd and drive to the Quebrada del Aspen, it twill be a great surprise called the “orange river.” After so many pictures we’ll drive to San Francisco, a small village 80km away and located just in fron of a group of tepuy. From here, after a short break we’ll start our trek toward the Tepuy Roraima. We’ll camp at Rio Tek.
Day 7 - Today we’ll be biking all day to reach the base camp at the feet of the tepuy. Overnight.
Day 8 - After half day biking will finally reach the top of the tepuy, we are almost 3000m high asl. In this new planet flora and fauna are unique and highly protected. The morpho-geologic environment is so sensible that we won’t be allowed to trash anything. Once we set-up the camp we’ll take a brief excursion around.
Day 9 - Today it twill be a an unforgettable day; we’ll be walking all day exploring the tepuy and especially if the weather is foggy, we’ll feel on a so different planet. The fogs that goes and come, covering and discovering the multitude of rocks shaped in so many different way, will create a particular atmosphere. We’ll go to the Crystal Valley and than to Great Laguna ending up later at the Mirador: a place where we can see part of Brazil and Guyana. In the afternoon we’ll be back at the camp and start descending till we reach Rio Tek and camp for the night.
Day 10 - Last day-trek back in San Francisco where our jeep is ready to take us back to S.ta Elena. Overnight at the same hotel.
Day 11 - Flight Santa Elena – Ciudad Bolivar, rest of the day is free with an eventually excursion on the Orinoco river. Overnight at the Posada don Carlos.
Day 12 - Flight Ciudad Bolivar – Caracas – your country.
